We are thrilled to announce Helpful Gifts from the Heart as our charity partner for the month of September! That means for the entire month, every cat video you watch here on our site, or direct donation you make via our “donate meow” page, helps us raise money in support of their mission.
Helpful Gifts from the Heart helps families face the overwhelming diagnosis and treatment of pediatric cancer, by providing support through practical gifts, such as payment of household utility bills and gift cards to supermarkets and other retailers to offset the cost of everyday necessities. In addition, Helpful Gifts provides meals several times a year for the families staying in the hospital.
Helpful Gifts from the Heart was formed in honor of Kayla DeFeo, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of 2. Unfortunately, Kayla started to develop chronic graft versus host disease (GVHD) in the spring of 2010. On September 7, 2011 at the age of 7 and a half, Kayla’s body could no longer fight the GVHD and she earned her angel wings early that morning.
